While the movie mask gave its wearer the power of cartoon-style reality warping, the comic version turned the wearer into an ultra-violent, cruel, psychotic antihero. And yes, they had the green head and whatnot. One comic crossover saw Joker get his hands on the mask. Because he wasn't dangerous enough already.
